Where to find fantasy props

I love finding a new item to use as a prop or in a costume. For me, part of the fun is in the hunt for the perfect piece, but I can understand if you just want someone to tell you where to go. There are so many different places and ways to find props to use during your fantasy photoshoot. I am here to help you figure out what will be best for you and your budget.

There is a balance between budget and effort here, so if your expectations are finding something cheap without having to put any effort in, well, I would love to know how you do it!

I have found that if you want to keep it more affordable you will need to go the DIY and thrifting route. I have found some super fun props and accessories going to the thrift store. This doesn’t happen every time I go, more often than not I don’t find what I’m hoping for. But if I stop by whenever I’m in town then I will eventually stumble upon the perfect thing!

I personally like supporting small businesses when I can. Think Etsy, local small businesses at farmers markets, and ren faires, are all great places to go. You can however find things on amazon as well. I have even found some props at Costco!

My collection at the moment is small, I am mostly collecting high quality pieces from small and local businesses and truly investing back into my business. I will share a few of the small shops that I have purchased from and what I bought.

OrdinaryYears - I purchased a crown from this seller at the beginning of 2026, though the shop now is closed I do love the piece. It has great weight to it and feels well made.

CostureroReal - I have placed multiple orders through this seller and the items I’ve received have always been very high quality. I have a long cloak from this company as well as a coupler smaller accessories. They sell cloaks, dresses, and corsets as well as smaller pieces like masks, head pieces, and arm cuffs. These pieces are an investment but well worth it!
